Bell of Saemoonan (1953~1973)

The "Bell of Saemoonan" was first placed at the belfry church which was extended in 1953, and was moved to the current site in 2003. This bell was purchased from a church in New York by Rev. James H. Underwood upon the request of Dr. Horce H. Underwood, and was sent to Korea by ship in the springtime of 1950, but was lost during the Korean War. It was then found in a storehouse in Busan in 1953. This bell was produced by Buckeye Bell Foundry in the US in 1893.

◎ This song is included in 『兒童歌謠曲選三百曲 (300 Songs for Children)』 (edited by Kang Sinmyeong, published by 尹山溫 (American), Life History of Farmers, 1936, 208-page octavo volume). This book includes children's songs introduced in the 1920s, many of which were composed by Kang Sinmyeong. (In Korea, many children's songs were written in the 1920~30s.) The book contains 333 songs in total, including 90 songs for Sunday school, 46 songs about spring, 47 songs about summer, 44 songs about autumn, and 78 songs about winter and others.
